Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Did anyone see you doing this? Are you sure? Are you paranoid?

Please be absolutely certain that what I am about to do in New York will hurt me a great deal. Please be under no illusion that I am a "runner". I have too many 'lifestyle' foibles for that. I have however thrown everything in my life at this event and since we returned to the UK  I am desparate to get round in a time that makes you, the kind giver of money, realise that you were supporting an outfit that is incredibly well run by dedicated and hard working people doing unbelievably selfless acts, because frankly if I take over five hours over this venture you might possibly think that my running is somehow reflective of them.

ISIS have not had to pay for my place in the event, so every single pound raised will go to them, not the (equally fabulous) organisers of the race.   That was my pleasure when a place wonderfully became available in August. (Thank you Adam)
What's more the ISIS founders cover all the admin cost of their charity so equally exciting is that every single pound does just go to making a difference on the ground. Isn't that fabulous.

I started to run about a year ago and on my first attempt managed 1.1 miles in 15 minutes (albeit in the heat and humidity of Bermuda). Actually I'm not that much faster now but with the support of my wonderful former colleagues at Aspen Re, friends and family who also run and the millstone of expectation I have seen a huge change in the last months.

It's three years since I last raised money for ISIS and while my life was changing so was their's. The realised dream in Nepal to take 140 street children and house, feed and educate them has seen project costs rise and the work in Uganda to continually improve the hospital where once only a tree stood is testament  to a charity who (like my running) have created something out of almost nothing.

Audette, Bees, Leo and all your colleagues. I salute you.
