My story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page to commemorate the of life Mary Brown - an innovative educator and a fantastic friend.

Our initial target was £202 - the yearly cost of preventing hunger, and providing an education, for 24 children - the same number that were in our daughter's primary school class.  Thanks to lots of support, especially around Pip's June 2009 exhibition, we have more than doubled that.  So let's aim at £504, which would support 60 children (yes, 60) for a whole year.

10% of the sale price of Pip's paintings also goes to to Mary's Meals.

****NEWSFLASH**** Paint The Town Red  - art in empty shops event - Melton Mowbray Town Centre.  Pip's paintings and prints will be on show in 29 Burton Street (formerly 'Humberts'), opposite the church, on the corner with Mill Street.  Pip is sharing the shop with animal, portrait and mural artist. Sue Bagshaw.  Other artists' work is on show in vacant shop units around the town centre.  We can tell you where to find them.  Just come along and have a look. Open Tues - Fri 10am-4pm & Sat 10am -2pm until 31 October 2009

mary's meals - a simple solution to world hunger that works

Set up by Scottish International Relief, Mary's Meals feeds over a quarter of a million children worldwide and helps ensure their education, giving them not only a nutritious daily meal but the chance of better future.

It costs just £8.40 a year, on average, to feed a child their local, staple diet.

The immediate and ripple effects of drawing children into school with a decent meal are profound  - not just for the children but also the surrounding community.

Visit www.marysmeals.org for full information, videos and how to help in other ways.

Over 93% of funds raised are spent on the ground as overheads are kept low - just under 7% is needed for fundraising and running costs.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way: Mary’s Meals gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

In our opinion,  Mary's Meals is an effective, coherent, culturally sensitive initiative and we commend it to you.  Whatever you feel able to contribute would be brilliant.

Pip & Muir xx
