Katie Piper, our daughter, our sister, had sulphuric acid thrown in her face in March 2008. There are many media reports that can be read online that cover her story and road to recovery. She is now campaigning for greater awareness of burns victims, increased support for burns survivors in the UK and for the pioneering surgery she received with a ground-breaking treatment. Her documentary "Katie: My Beautiful Face" was shown on Cutting Edge on Channel 4 in October 2009, produced by Mentorn.

Katie's brother, Paul, is running the Virgin London Marathon 2010 and together as a family we would like to raise money for Dan's Fund for Burns which has helped us all so much.

Dan's Fund for Burns is a charity that was originally set up to help victims of the Bali bombing, but has since become an extremely important charity helping burns survivors from a wide variety of incidents. Dan's Fund provides amazing support and care for people following hospital discharge which really does make a huge difference to the quality of life and the recovery of burns survivors following the initial hospital treatments. Katie received support from Dan's Fund for travelling costs to pursue treatments abroad in France which benefited her greatly, and Dan's Fund also provided a psychologist that helped Katie immensely.

As a family we would like to say a huge Thank You to Dan's Fund and to raise as much as possible to support the excellent work that they do and to help other burns survivors through what we know is an awful pain.

Your donation is really appreciated and as we've seen ourselves first-hand, really does make a difference to people's lives.

I wanted to say thank you to everybody who felt compelled to come online and show their support, I noticed lots of the messages were from people who said they don't normally comment online so i am very privileged that all of you have given me your feedback.
 
When i started to read the messages it made me cry, I even had to take my mask off! Thanks guys!
 
It really did touch my heart to know how many people are behind me and believe in me.
 
When you have support you can get through anything and to have such wonderful public support really is such an amazing feeling and I am very grateful.
 
The night before the documentary was due to be aired I was very nervous, frightened people might laugh at me or feel disgusted by my appearance. But to have all this positive feedback and compliments has been a real boost.
 
At the weekend after the documentary had been out, I went out for dinner and also went shopping. Lots of people approached me and congratulated me and I felt proud and held my head high whilst out and about in public.
 
I couldn't feel like this without all this support, so thank you everybody for giving me my confidence back. I am sorry I couldn't reply individually, but I sincerely appreciate all of your messages.
