Story
Thank you for visiting my London marathon 2008 fundraising page.
Well, it's all over, but it turned out to be the experience of a lunchtime after all... which incidentally consisted of various flavours of Stinger energy gels.
The weather was ideal and even the rain was a welcome cooling shower. I also passed the tribesmen, which was an impressive sight.
Three refreshing family pit stops also helped, especially the one at Temple, which gave me a boost and, together with my caffeine gel, gave me new legs for the last couple of miles.
Fortunately I managed to keep going, avoiding trips and slips, eventually finishing in a personal best(!) time of 3 hours 54 minutes and 10 long seconds.
So, final thanks to all for your sponsorship and messages of support. If you haven't yet sponsored me, please don't hold back, as CLIC Sargent still need your support.
So why did I do all this?
Well, I like running for some reason, but you may also know that I have some family reasons for wanting to support CLIC Sargent... namely that my sister and brother-in-law's foster child has leukemia. They have received and will continue to receive support from CLIC Sargent, so I know for a fact that their support makes a real difference to families struggling to deal with all the consequences of seriously ill children. In short, they're well worth a donation. So, please dig deep and sponsor me online for as much or as little as you can afford. Every little helps.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CLIC Sargent will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
Pete
