British 10k London Run 2007 · 1 July 2007 ·

We are the UK’s leading fostering charity and the essential network for fostering. We support foster carers, fostering services and the wider sector to transform children’s lives. We work to ensure all fostered children and young people get the best possible care and experience stable family life.

Story

The Fostering Network is trying to make life better for children who can no longer live with their parents. I'm trying to raise £200 to support their work.

On July 1st I took part in an action-philosophy sports experiment. It had something to do with is it worth always trying harder in the face of obvious limitations, can advancements in society overcome the natural checks that Malthus miserably predicted and what’s the point of sport.

The practical bit involved running the 10K London run on Sunday. I managed that – in an hour, but it was hard to think about anything other than breathing enough oxygen at the time. And now my legs hurt. So I’m afraid I don’t have any answers. You can’t have your sponsorship money back though, because I’ve given it all to the Fostering Network. If it’s any consolation, they won’t be spending it on silly experiments.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me – it’s all much appreciated! If you haven't, there’s still time to help me reach the target of £200. It's easy to make a donation on this page and if you're a taxpayer an extra 28% tax will be added.
