In February 2007, I am taking part in the Westminster Challenge which is a trek across the Arctic wilderness by husky dog sled with a cross-party team of Members of Parliament. The team will travel through Finland, Sweden and Norway.The Westminster Challenge was created in 2006 to engage Members of Parliament in the work of charities and to fundraise on their behalf. The organisation acts as a link between the political and charitable worlds, promoting the work of each with the other and the general public. Aims of The Westminster ChallengeThere are three principal aims of The Westminster Challenge:1) To engage Members of both Houses of Parliament in the work of charities and vice versa2) To raise a significant amount of money for a range of charities3) To help to change the public’s perception of Parliamentarians
