In February 2007, I am taking part in the Westminster Challenge which is a trek across the Arctic wilderness by husky dog sled with a cross-party team of Members of Parliament. The team will travel through Finland, Sweden and Norway. Aims of The
Westminster Challenge
The Westminster Challenge was created in 2006 to engage Members of Parliament in the work of charities and to fundraise on their behalf. The organisation acts as a link between the political and charitable worlds, promoting the work of each with the other and the general public.
There are three principal aims of The Westminster Challenge:
1) To engage Members of both Houses of Parliament in the work of charities and vice versa
2) To raise a significant amount of money for a range of charities
3) To help to change the public’s perception of Parliamentarians
Supporting the Work of Charities
The work of The Westminster Challenge will support three main charities until the end of 2007 - Cancer Research (Reg Charity No 1089464), The Children’s Society (Reg Charity No 221124) and Crimestoppers (Reg Charity No 1108687).
