Thanks for visiting Plain Lazy's fundraising page.
We (Mark Hagley and Larry Jarrett-Kerr) are going to take on a massive adventure to raise money for the Indian team to go to the Street Kids World Cup. With no preparation and less luggage we're going to fly to the Indian Subcontinent and try our damndest to force 150cc of Indian engineering (a Rickshaw) over thousands of miles of questionable terrain in around two weeks. It's called the Rickshaw Run..., check out our blog to follow us and find out more..
The Rickshaw is three wheels, half a horse power and more fun than any other vehicle on planet earth the humble Rickshaw is undoubtedly the ultimate long distance, off road machine, despite being designed for short distances on road.
We're raising money for an Indian Street Kids Football Team to fly to South Africa for the Street Kids World Cup.
Millions of children have to survive on the streets of our world today. Children as young as five have to go without family support or government assistance, and are often seen as worthless nuisances, who deserve the violence and abuse they get.
The Street Child World Cup will be more than a football tournament. It will celebrate street children's potential and allow their stories to be heard.
This is what your money might buy:
£5 A barbecue/braai meal for one child
£20 Will pay for one child’s passport in Brazil
£95 Will pay for a child’s kit bag – trainers, t-shirts and shorts, tracksuit
£126 Will pay for the whole Indian team’s passports
£250 Will feed a team throughout their time in South Africa
£300 Advocacy training and materials for one team – to empower street children to speak for themselves and their peers
£500 Will pay for translation services for one team – to enable their stories to be heard and understood.
£875 Will pay all the visa fees necessary for the street child teams
£1450 Will pay for a flight for a child from the Philippines. This is the most expensive flight cost, and after the recent catastrophes in the Philippines, perhaps the most important
£3000 Will pay for all the accommodation for teams in South Africa£4000 Coaching and refereeing training for all the teams in Durban
£5000 Will pay for a new book of street children’s stories, with images from the event and conference reports to raise the issues that the street children have identified as important
