Story
Hi there and thanks for visiting.
Epilepsy is the UK's most common neurological condition affecting about 1 in 131 people. It is caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain that disrupts the normal flow of signals between neurons. For more throrough information, see http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/info/whatisepilepsy.html.
As epileptics go, I have it fairly easy. It is controlled by regular medication and doesn't affect my life to any great degree, although I currently don't have a driving licence.
However, I am very lucky in that my medication works and does not adversely affect my quality of life. Sponsor me to run the London Triathlon and you will be making a valuable contribution to improving the quality of life of the many thousands of epileptics who are not so lucky. Many epileptics do not respond to medication and require other solutions ranging from implants to neurosurgery.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Epilepsy Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
