Action for M.E. works to end the ignorance, injustice and neglect people with M.E. experience. Our children's services offer support and information to children and young people with M.E., their families and carers carrying on the vital work of AYME, the Association of Young People with M.E.

Story

Not the most recognised illness, ME affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK, and full recovery from the condition occurs in only 5-10% of cases.

Association of Young People with ME (AYME) is a charity that offers support to young people suffering & recovering from ME, and their families. A member of our group and close friend, has been suffering from the illness for the last 8 years and the charity has helped her through tough times.

We're hoping to raise money for those suffering from the illness whilst increasing awareness through several fundraisers during "National ME Week" which will include; bake sales, designed t-shirt sales in the retail store "Created in Birmingham", an acapella performance in the city centre.

ME can affect all types of people at all ages, it is a recognised relapsing and remitting medical condition with many complex fluctuating symptoms:

- Severe and debilitating fatigue
- Painful muscles and joints
- Disordered sleep
- Poor memory and concentration

Not many people are aware of the life changing affects it has on the sufferers quality of life, and the work of AYME charity means that children and young adults have a forum of their peers to be supported and helped by.
