Hi everyone i`m Mark and i`m 34 years old.

Before October last year i was generally healthy with a family of 3 boys and working for a delivery company. Life has always been a struggle but i was happy.

Then it hit one day driving back from London on a day of deliveries. The spasms in my face were horrid and uncontrollable. I remember getting back that day and i was so embarrassed i ran in the house past all of my family straight up to my room, got in bed and hid under the duvet i wouldnt let anyone come near me, i didnt want anybody to see me like that.

After seeing specialists i was diagnosed with Blepharospasm and treatment of Botox Injections was underway. Unfortunately the illness did not stop there. Over the coming months it spread to my arm causing a tremor, my legs, feet with curling toes, and the pain in my muscles is unbearable at times. I now have a progression in my neck which is causing mild spasms and awful headaches. I am able to walk just but usually with help as my knee is giving way and my posture has changed.

After some intense investigation and hospital visits i have now been diagnosed with Generalised Dystonia. This is a combination of all the various types of Dystonia.

So now its time to try and live life the best I can with such an awful illness. I want to be myself again and be happy.

The first step i believe to helping myself through this is to help others. I want to be involved in helping anyone with the same or simular type of illness. There must be so many people that have had this for years and more like me that are new to such an illness but i believe we can all help each other and show that although we may be different on the outside we are still the same people on the inside.

I have only just joined the Dystonia Society and wanted to help straight away, not only too support the society itself but too offer help into finding a cure for a currently uncurable illness.

So I ask that you could donate to my cause and help no matter how big or small, every penny will count.

It is my intention to try and arrange for some fundraising to be done by myself, and for anyone who knows me will know that i have recently given up smoking. So i would like to use this as my first step for raising money for such a great cause.

Please help me to help others and myself.

Mark xxxxx
