Well we did it!

26.2 miles in 6 hours and 55 minutes, which was about 30 minutes faster than we had hoped or expected and without any interesting physical conditions to report. And rather surprisingly, we actually enjoyed the experience.

We have been completely overwhelmed by the generosity of all of our many sponsors, which means that we will have raised around £35,000 once we have matched your donations and gift aid is taken into account. And it is still coming in! This is HUGE and a rather greater achievement than completing the walk itself – so thank you all very much indeed. I can also reassure you that we won’t be back for more sponsorship next year although we might well be up for another challenge of some sort, now that our natural athleticism has been exposed!

On the night of 14th June the streets of Edinburgh will be filled with 12,000 bra-clad women and one rather unfit forty-something year old man, who rashly promised his wife that he would accompany her to Walk the Walk for 26.2 miles. Training has been somewhat patchy but confidence is high.

For those who don’t know, Walk the Walk is a grant making organisation which aims to raise money for a range of breast cancer charities, including Maggie's Centre. We have had first hand experience of breast cancer and know what a really excellent cause this is.

Having never attempted anything like this before nor previously asked any of you for sponsorship, I am hoping you will support us both in what is definitely a far tougher challenge than it looks. To provide a bit more motivation for you to give generously, I promise to match all donations pledged.
