Thanks for popping by... this time I'm running on my own, to continue to raise money for Tiny Lives who gave us the care and resources when I gave birth prematurely last year, to help them continue with the great work they do and to fund research, education and training.
For those that don't know; I had my baby girl Poppy Soulsby at the Newcastle RVI Hospital on 15th September 2015, I gave birth at 25 weeks and 2 days gestation, due to PPROM (preterm premature rupture of membranes), my waters spontaneously broke in a huge..no..make that enormous! gush at the Metrocentre at 8pm on 14th September and I just knew we had to get to a hospital, we vaguely knew the RVI had a special care baby unit but hadn't realised just how special this would be to us we drove ourselves there and 12hrs later our daughter Poppy was born weighing 1lb13ozs, this was the start of our 3 month journey to get Poppy well enough to come home, which we did on 11th December 2015! The 2 months we spent at the RVI were the toughest of our lives, watching Poppy slowly grow in an incubator instead of my tummy, watching her fight for life through symptoms of NEC (Necrotising Enterocolitis), ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity), Heart PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus), CLD (Chronic Lung Disease), the lowest of sodium levels, and finally, Anaemia requiring blood transfusions.
We benefited directly from Tiny Lives by receiving Miniboos, physiotherapy, a parking pass, memory box, progress stickers, feeding support (which meant I was able to express all of Poppy's milk feeds for over 4 months).
