I watched the troops currently serving overseas launch this year's Poppy Appeal, on last night's news.  I would really like to get stuck in more, but can't, so this seems as good a way as doing my bit.   There is not enough money in circulation which could say thanks to those who have already suffered or made the ultimate sacrifice, but hopefully, what we can do is make sure that those who are going to be needing help in the future are going to be cared for properly.  Because although we might not agree with the government of the day the troops have always been there for us - and its them we're saying thank you to.

Some people have expressed concerns about Justgiving.  Yes, donating through Justgiving is going to mean giving them 5% or so of whatever is given, but its less than the 15% or so that conventional collecting costs.  It is also quick, easy and totally secure so the British Legion will get your money faster and (if you’re a UK taxpayer) Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid (plus a 3% supplement) are added to your donation. 

Please feel free to pass on the link and lets see how many different services, branches, trades, battalions, Regiments, cap badges, civvy companies, sqns, messageboards etc can get a shout.   And if this gets to the far side of the world, why not add a message for someone?
