I vowed never to do another marathon again and technically I've kept that promise.  This monster will be my first mad foray into the world of ultra marathons.  At 100km/62.1miles long, along the the oldest trail in the UK (some 5000 years old!), I know I'm going to suffer.  Greatly.  However, being a proper off-road trail route, at least I'll have the gorgeous British countryside to keep me going.  

I've chosen Mind for a number of reasons.  Those people close to me will know that I have previously battled my own demons.  It's something I don't often talk about and, appearing to be an outgoing, active sort most of the time has made it pretty easy to hide from my wider circle of friends and acquaintances.  I'm now back to full mental and emotional health, thankfully, so it's time to bring my body up to the same levels.  

My second reason is that the outdoors is such a magnificent thing.  It has been proven beyond doubt that exercise, a healthy lifestyle and spending time outside all contribute to positive mental health.  As an Ordnance Survey GetOutside Champion I'm urging you all to find yourself some time in the day, get outside into our beautiful natural landscapes, and give your brain a little break from the stress of everyday life.  If I can do this, you can do that.
