My story

Pounding the Pennines - 24 August - 13 September 2012
www.poundingthepennines.com

Father and daughter hike 268 miles in 21 days over the Pennine Way to raise money for Mountain Rescue. Please help us raise our target of £2,000 for a defibrillator.

Over a Christmas tipple the prospect of a 2012 challenge was raised. It was agreed that Peter & Jen should walk the Pennine Way also known as “the roughest, hilliest and physically testing areas that England can throw at you”.

268 miles (providing we don’t get lost) from Edale in the Peak District, a skip through the Dales, a hop over Hadrian’s Wall, through the Cheviots to arrive at Kirk Yelham 21 days later.

Why? Because in January 2011, my friend suffered a fall in the peaks which left her with a fractured spine. We were rescued by the most incredible team of volunteers known as ‘Glossop Mountain Rescue’. All living to tell the tale, thanks to this amazing team – it was only right that Pounding the Pennines was about raising money and awareness for this special service which runs entirely on donations from you.

Mountain Rescue needs donations to stay operational and provide the equipment to conduct rescues and training. After rebuilding their demolished HQ, funds are desperately needed. Please help me raise £2000 for a defibrillator and other rescue equipment which is needed to save lives.
