Story

Principles Agency cyclistas’ 350km ‘Cycle Cuba’ for Yorkshire Cancer Centre

Mike Hackett, MD, and Chris Goodwin, Founding Partner of Principles Agency are clearly mad. They must be. What other explanation could there be for volunteering to cycle 350km around Cuba in an oppressive 80 degree heat with high humidity?

Until a fortnight ago, Mike hadn’t graced a saddle since he was a kid. Chris likes the odd spin, but has never tackled anything like this. On 15 November 2009 though, they’ll be setting off with their bike clips for Havana in order to raise £10,000 for one of Principles Agency’s favourite charities - Yorkshire Cancer Centre.

Donate money to Mike & Chris’ struggle now!

Whilst our two brave cyclistas are raising their fitness levels undergoing gruelling training, they’re relying on you to help raise a realistically optimistic £10,000 for Yorkshire Cancer Centre.

Pledging is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate,  the money goes directly to the Yorkshire Cancer Centre and they make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.  You just need to decide how deep you wish to dig into your pockets. Obviously, the more you can pledge the merrier.

To reach their target, Mike and Chris aren’t simply tapping up colleagues, clients, friends and family. Between their paper rounds, they’re having car boot sales, hosting Summer events, holding prize draws, selling cakes and packing bags at Morrisons. Hopefully they’ll reserve some energy for the ride itself.

I
n November, they’ll be jetting off to Cuba for 9 days – 5 of which will be solid cycling. They start in the Bay of Pigs, pass through loads of places including Zapata and the final day starts with a masochistic 10km hill climb then a 76km ride into Havana. Aye Carumba!

I
t’s a mightily challenging adventure. But they’re up for it… mentally. Physically? That remains to be seen. To make it, they need your support. To make it worth their while, they do need your money. So…

Mike’s taking his stabilisers off next week, so we know he’s serious.

Please pledge now and join the fight against cancer!
