King Sturge Property Triathlon 2010 · 9 July 2010

Project Gem is an educational charity which works with young disadvantaged children in the UK and Brazil. It uses the arts as a means of encouraging communication and expression, empowering young vulnerable people to choose an active participation within society. Gem won first prize in the state of Bahia, Brazil as the best educational charity.

Story

Henry, Bjorn and Marinheiro have entered the King Sturge Property Triathlon on Friday 9 July.

We are fundraising for Project Gem which uses the arts to further educational activities for disadvantaged youngsters in built up run down urban environments.  On the 9th we are running, swimming and cycling for Project Gem's Brazilian work where the recent activities of the drug traffickers has made the youth work even more important to the local community. We are also very privileged to have Marinheiro (who co-ordinates the work in Brazil) over to help fund raise.

Henry promises to complete in a solid time but will only bike in a Man "kini" if someone donates £500 for the pleasure.

Marinheiro is a qualified life guard and is willing to succour all the ladies who have trouble swimming (or indeed getting in or out of their wetsuits), trouble is he has never ridden a racing bike, but that is a minor detail which we will over come on the day. in his life

Bjorn, the ringer in the pack, is fresh from the London Marathon and should make up for any lost time.

Please give generously to this small charity which operates in a desperate area of Brazil and has no administration costs - all UK work is done on a volunteer basis.  Funds are needed to pay off electricity bills and fund the employment of a computer teacher to reactivate the IT suite which reached out to more than 500 young people in 2 years.
