After two hugely successful years raising over £2000 for Cancer research and the MS Society this year's chosen charity is Prostate Cancer UK, and more specifically the North Essex urology cancer support group

The support group was formed 14 years ago for prostate cancer patients and carers, 6 years ago the group expanded to embrace all urology cancers. There are now 185 members recorded. All who receive a news letter each month.

It is an informal support group for men and women in north East Essex who have a urology cancer and their partners and carers. We hold social evenings, these start with a cup of tea or coffee which give time for attendees to network with other like persons. This short period is followed by guest speakers and give everyone a chance to meet clinicians and others involved in providing urology cancer support services in the Colchester area.

The group has received funds from many organisations and individuals which it uses for the benefit of urology cancer.

The support groups funds are held within the Colchester hospital charity (urology fund) and ring fenced in this fund under account 4e32 for our use. Any cheques raised should be made out to "Colchester hospital charity urology fund (4e32)".

We use the funds for training our cancer nurses and also we wish to provide support for the new urology radiotherapy unit opening in May 2014.

Colchester hospital charity is a registered charity 1051504.

The group meets on the 1st Wednesday of every month from 18:00 hrs to 20:00 hard in the training and development centre at the colchester general hospital, turner road.

Current holders Real Ale Madrid will be looking to retain the trophy for the third year running. Currently unbeaten over 90 minutes in the previous two games, and also successfully winning, and subsequently defending their penalty shootout title as well.

Tickets are just £5 each - early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment! Call 07894 436042
