3 Peaks Challenge · 9 February 2006

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

On 23rd June 2006 Tom and Sarah from Painter Salter will be joining a team organised by Watch Systems, to take part in the 3 Peaks Challenge. We will climb Scarfell Pike, Ben Nevis and Mount Snowdon in 24 hours. These are the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales.  This challenge involves climbing a total of 9,700 ft, with 22 miles of walking and 470 miles of driving.

If you know us, you will be aware that our interests normally extend to tapas and cheese (Sarah and Tom respectively), so this really will be a big challenge for us.

As we are both adopted 'Brummies' we have decided to raise sponsorship for a worthwhile local charity, Birmingham Children's Hospital.  The hospital is currently developing a new paediatric burn unit. On completion in 2007 the new Burn Centre will care for around 400 patients a year from a catchment area close to 12 million children.  The majority of these additional patients will be children suffering from serious burn injuries. The fund raising project that we are donating to will go some way to make the new unit a 'home from home' environment for patients and parents.

Donating through justgiving.com is fast and secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Birmingham Children's Hospital Charities will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thank you for your support.
