New York Marathon 2009: Barnado's 'Believe in Children'
Every child deserves a chance. Barnado's, one of the UK's leading charities, makes sure that as many underprivileged children get the same opportunities in life that most of us take for granted. It's hard to imagine what some of the boys and girls who benefit from their efforts go through. And I'm equally amazed and humbled by the dedication and sheer hard work of volunteer workers, foster parents, and teachers in their schools network.
So I hope you'll support me and my colleagues at Metia as we dash around the streets of London and New York hoping to raise at least £3,000 for Barnado's. The fun starts on Friday October 30, when Alexia Mead, Melanie Lemseffer, Jeanette Lewing, Emily Haynes, Simon Abrahams, Dominique Martindale, Silke Nuetten, Richard Cookson and Karthik Padmanabhan will be running three miles each through the streets of the West End of London.
Then, on November 1, I'll be running the New York Marathon. I'm aiming to run under three and a half hours, assuming that creaky ankles and mid-forties general wear and tear don't get in the way.
Now I hope you'll find time to do your bit. It's very easy to make a donation through this JustGiving web site. It's totally secure and once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to Barnado's and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
That's it for now, although we'll keep you updated on progress.
Once again, thank you for your support.
Peter
