My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Running a marathon has been on my (before I kick the) 'Bucket List' for ages In fact it is the ONLY thing on it.! However as my seventh decade accelerates ever faster towards me I had sort of assumed it would be a bit like the desire to get up to date with emails - aspirational only. That was till this December when Dries from BackCare invited me to join him on this years London marathon & in a moment of madness I said I would & I have been training since bringing as of course I do all the state of the art medical knowledge to my preparartions. How could I fail? Well surprisingly all WAS going extremely well. I had done my last long run & was starting the winddown  period before the race when I suceeded in straining a hamstring and am now on an 'accelerated rehab programme' (of the hamstring variety I hasten to add - in fact I have been on the wagon for sometime now as part of my preparation - a feat in itself worthy of generous sponsorship you might well think) I sincerely hope that I will make the start on April 26th but if I don't I will enter another marathon when I am out of rehab.
BackCare is a brilliant charity helping to support the needs of thousands of people with back pain. Most of us will have already or will  experience back pain & as a coalface GP I know how much worry & distress it causes so I am very pleased to be able to try to raise some funds for such a worthy cause.
I do hope you will feel able to support  me in this Quixotic adventure for such a good cause
Thanks for reading this & particular thanks if you do decide to sponsor me
Paul
