Little Hearts Matter is a national charity offering support and information to anyone affected by the devastating diagnosis of a single ventricle heart condition, children born with half a working heart. We work to support and raise awareness of the needs of these children and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Elsie's Story....her mum's words...

"Elsie was born with Hypoplastic left heart, Unbalanced AVSD & Coarctation. At 48 hours old she had the Damus K Norwood stage 1 procedure. She was in intensive care for 4 weeks. We were discharged from hospital when she was 6 weeks old.

Then 7 weeks later we noticed some discolouration in face when she was crying. We were admitted again, the consultants decided she was ready for Norwood stage 2. Her recovery was much quicker and we were home 2 weeks after surgery.

Now at 19 months she is a very happy and active little girl. No one can believe she has half a heart. She will need the 3rd stage surgery within the next year or two. Meanwhile we make sure we're enjoying 'normal' life"

Little Hearts Matter are a wonderful charity that support children born with half a heart. We have already found them to be a great help so far on our journey. They have advice on lifestyle and how parents can prepare children for surgery once children they are of an age to understand. They will also offer support to Elsie through to adulthood and understand the limitations in life she will face.

Thank you for reading our story, every penny will really help this very grateful charity.

Good luck Tom!
