Story
Hello My name is Matthew, I am 3, I have a sister called Charlotte, aged 6, we both have a Granda called Ian
I have a genetically malformed heart , it is laterally inverted, on the wrong side of my chest and has some arteries missing .
This all means that I know a lot of doctors and nurses at the Freeman Hospital Children's Heart Unit really well . I have been there lots because they keep opening my chest to make my heart work when I am short of breath and sleepy , Doctors work out how to mend it and it works again. They are CLEVER!
Sometimes I get a bit home, toy, sister and pony sick (especially miss my pony) , even though my Mam and Dad take turns staying with me .I know the other children feel the same , especially when they live a long way from Newcastle and it is difficult for their family to travel.
My Granda came up with the Idea to ride across the Pyrenees on his bicycle and hopefully raise money for the Children's Heart Unit Fund at Freeman hospital (a charity called C.H.U.F.)
The money raised will go to the children and facilities on the heart unit for important things that make my friends and I SMILE, and make our sometimes long staying hospital easier for us.
You can see a picture of me with my Granda's bicycle , he is going to ride from the west to the east coast of France over the Pyrenean mountains in four and a half days .
The total trip is 713 kilometre , with 12,860 metres climbing , I want to grow up to ride a bike just like my Granda's.
Hopefully by raising money for this charity we can contribute to improving the children's hospital stay.
Please donate either by the Donate bar , or text using
Number 070070 then text PYRE62 £amount you wish to donate.
Thank you, Matthew and Charlotte
