Thank you for coming to visit my JustGiving page. Here is an explanation of the challenge and why I am raising money for the charity the NSE - National Society for Epilepsy.
About the Challenge
------------------------------------
In 2012 I am looking to be the first person with the condition Epilepsy to compete in the North polar challenge (www.polar-challenge.com). This is a 380 mile (611km) race in teams of 3 from Resolute Bay to the 1996 North Magnetic pole pulling approximately 54kgs of equipment on a pulk (sledge) behind us and not to mention the many extreme elements of -40 degree C (with wind chill -70 degree C), snow blizzards, and dangers such as polar bears to the high risk of hyperthermia.
About me
------------------------------------
I am doing this to raise money for the much needed research and treatments of Epilepsy to help others that have and will come to have the condition to live a full and active life.
> Every 9 hours someone dies from the condition
> 75 new cases of Epilepsy are diagnosed every day
> 1 in 131 people have the condition (456,000 cases in the UK)
> and, a 1/3 of all people with epilepsy have no idea when a seizure may occur.
I am fortunate enough that I am able to live a relatively normal life with the help of AED's (anti epileptic drugs) and have a mild case of the condition. I have seizures every few days but know with a bit of warning when it may happen but to all those who do not, to all the new cases, the ones that are unable to control the seizures please, please help me in raising the much needed money for the NSE who do sterling work and are respected all over the world.
With a big thank you,
Quinton.
Remember every penny will go straight towards the charity!
