The Wheelpower Dragon Boat Challenge 2008 · 10 March 2008

Sport has tremendous physical, psychological and social benefits for the participants, particularly young people. WheelPower provides and promotes opportunities for thousands of children and young adults with disabilities to participate in recreational and competitive wheelchair sport and improve their quality of life.

Story

By participating in the WheelPower Dragon Boat Challenge, Qube Learning hopes to raise awareness and money to support Britain's elite and aspiring wheelchair athletes.

On 27th April 2008, on the River Thames near Marlow, some of Qube Learning’s staff, family and friends will be taking part in the Wheelpower Dragon Boat Challenge 2008. Our team is called the 'Jack Sparrows' and we will be all in fancy dress for the occassion.

At least 11 of us will be crammed into a menacing looking dragon boat, with nothing but paddles and a drum to get us moving. We will be competing against 20 other teams and racing our dragon to raise money for Wheelpower.

Just £3,000 will provide a new sports wheelchair, training and support from WheelPower’s expert staff at Stoke Mandeville Stadium to enable each disabled child and young adult to participate in the sport of their choice.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: WheelPower will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Qube Learning have donated the £500 entry fee for the race.
