We empower local medical professionals to provide cleft treatment around the world

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’ve challenged myself in the name of fundraising in the past. I have done some half marathons, mountain challenges and the coast to coast last year but never to this level and I’m certainly feeling anxious as July creeps closer.

On the 14th of July this year 5000 amateur cyclists will be setting off from Pau in SW Frances to complete one of, if not possibly the hardest stages of the Tour De France. This route will take us over the highest road passes on the Tour, including Col du Tourmelet and Col D'Aubisque. At the end of a full days cycling we will have climbed over 4000m and cycled nearly 200km.

Before heading to France I will also be completing two equally arduous UK rides, called the Etape du Dales starting in Grassington, N Yorks and the Fred Whitton starting in Coniston, Cumbria. I am fortunate to have a very understanding wife and three beautiful children who are all sure I am mad but with your help I am sure we can make a difference. The money raised for Smile Train will help many disadvantaged children in the third world who are born with a cleft lip or palate. Without the work of Smile Train, these children would not have any chance of having these facial disfigurements repaired.

Previously I have to accomplish just over 124 miles in just a day, so I’m training furiously three to four times a week to build up to that level. I feel very passionate about the challenge and the fantastic charity I’m raising the money for. Your support is appreciated, thank you.
