Many of the schools around the Quepos region have very limited funding and face many challenges both social and economic. This project will address these issues by supporting schools in providing students with an inspiring educational environment by building & repairing schools, ensuring they have the necessary space to teach, and providing materials and classes to inspire the students to learn and continue to attend classes.

Project aims

This ongoing program seeks to improve school infrastructure as well as supply school’s with educational equipment and materials. Charitable Trust funds will be used to renovate school buildings, build new classrooms & other buildings such as cafeterias or supply rooms, paint schools, repair/build desks and other classroom furnishings, and to supply books, arts materials, sports equipment and other needed supplies.  As we work with many schools in the area, and always seek to ensure our programs have the greatest impact possible, specific projects will be decided on a basis of need and urgency.

Long-term sustainability

Working in partnership with underfunded local schools, this project will improve facilities and the quality of education available to children in the community. Our goals include ensuring school’s have sufficient classrooms and infrastructure to provide solid education to the children. This may mean building a classroom so all grade levels and courses can be taught with proper space and ratios; building/repairing cafeterias where school lunches are often the children’s main meal of the day; repairing facilities to create an organized & inspirational learning environment; and providing materials for dynamic, exciting lessons.  At our key partner schools where volunteers are placed, goals include developing facilities where teachers and volunteers can organize workshops, provide extra assistance for students falling behind, and collaborate on a sustainable English education program which will improve linguistic skills for both children and adults, creating more opportunities for stable employment benefiting generations for years to come.
