We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

A team of four intrepid 'athletes' are bidding to complete the Marathon Des Sables, billed as the 'the toughest footrace on earth'. For those who are unaware what this entails, it is basically a 160 mile 7 day race across the Sahara Desert in Morrocco. For more information see www.saharamarathon.co.uk The race is due to take place at the end of March and sees competitors brave 130 degrees temperatures, sand-storms, dunes and the odd blister or two!

We are aiming to raise monies for our 4 chosen charities: Cancer Research, WaterAid(see link below), the Andrew James Walsh Memorial Trust (which aims to assist in education throughout the developing world and to this end has set up 2 education centres in poorer regions in Southern India) and Hummingbird Trust (which provides help to children with diabetes).

Should you wish to donate money to WaterAid, please click on http://www.justgiving.com/quicksand2 which will take you to our Water-aid just giving page.

Should you wish to make a donation to the Andrew James Walsh Memorial Trust or Hummingbird Trust these can be made by bank transfer to sort code 83-26-28, account number 00174124 (RBS) which is the charity account that we have set up for this purpose. Alternatively please pass cheques payable to 'Quicksand MDS' to any of us, or pay in at any branch of RBS.

We have all invested a huge amount of time in training for this event as well as considerable sums of money in entry fees and the required kit. We would greatly appreciate it if you could give as generously as possible to our chosen charities. (please note that every penny donated to us will go direct to the charity. There will be no deduction to cover any costs incurred by us in participating)

If you wish to follow our progress during our training and throughout the race itself, please log on to [website].

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
