Here's a HUGE thanks to everyone that came to the Afghanaid Charity Concert at Pangea Project and made it not only one of the busiest nights the venue has ever had, but also a night we will never forget!

Afghanaid has been working in Afghanistan for over 25 years and has been helping people rebuild their lives through three decades of devastating conflict. Grinding poverty, warlord violence and repressive Taliban strictures denied the most basic education to vast swathes of the population - especially women and girls, and one in five children die before the age of 5. Afghanaid currently work directly with over 500,000 adults and children focusing on long term sustainable development in rural areas, and making an immediate difference to their lives.
So, they DON'T support heroin-making farmers, they DON'T support the Taliban, they DON'T work for the armed forces - they work for all the people caught in between all the madness going on in what is now the world's 6th poorest country!!
I really do believe in the quality and importance of Afghanaid's work - and I think the issues the war in Afghanistan raises are indicative of much of what is wrong in our world today.
Here are some facts:
£10 can buy 5 children’s literacy books
£15 provides health care education for 18 children
£35 secures safe drinking water for a family
£90 provides one month of training at Farmer Field Schools for 30 members
£150 can offer education facilities to 45 Afghan children
£500 builds a reservoir to provide a village with clean drinking water
£1000 enables Afghanaid to construct a bridge serving 50 villages or build an irrigation canal to water the crops of one community
and so on...
