Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

I am entering the St Andrew's Hospice Lanarkshire Ladies 6K Road Race, the first event in my unofficial One Race a Month effort. Thank you for visiting.

For this race, I am hoping to raise funds for Alzheimer's Research Trust. I picked this charity because my paternal grandmother suffered Alzheimer's and my paternal grandfather suffered dementia after stroke. Both passed away several years ago. My surviving grandfather, who is a young 86, still has all his marbles, which is good.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Research Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

I cannot guarantee that I'm going to win the race, because I am a strong proponent of the 'slow and steady' philosophy. My challenge is to enter one race a month, and next month it might be a different charity.

So if you choose to donate to Alzheimer's Research Trust and support my One Race a Month attempt, thank you very much!
