The Fred Hollows Foundation (UK) is a registered charity which seeks to eliminate avoidable blindness in developing countries, using a sustainable development approach. Inspired by the work of the late Professor Fred Hollows, The Foundation strives for a world where no one is needlessly blind.

Story

In October 2011, I shall be sailing across the mighty Southern Ocean as part of the 11 - 12 Clipper Round the World Yacht race. Five weeks of training in the UK, then the actual race from South Africa in early Oct 2011 to Australia arriving a month later (hopefully!).

I was fortunate to have a Lamellar Keratoplasty in January 10 and my new left eye and I would like to use the race to raise money for the Fred Hollows Foundation. The Foundation does so much good work to prevent and cure eye disease, especially in young children in developing countries and the Foundation's vision is of a world where no one is needlessly blind.

Follow me on http://raceforsight.blogspot.com

100% of all donations will go to the Foundation. Once you donate, Just Giving send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I appreciate your support. Thank you.
