Hey Guys!!! Thank you for visiting our sponsorship page.
Basically we need your help! Rach and I had this 'really great idea' to do the Devizes to Westminster Canoe race. A 125mile race from Devizes (Wiltshire) on the Kennet and Avon Canal to Westminster Bridge on the Thames. It should take us the best part of 10 hours everyday for 3 days followed by an 'easy' fourth day of JUST 17 miles to complete the race......!!
For the past couple of months our Sundays have been spent paddling up and down the river for a variety of reasons -
1. to get fit,
2. to get used to some pretty awful weather conditions
and
3. so when the organisers of the event fish us out of the river after 10 minutes on day one we can say with confidence that we did believe it or not actually practice for this!
This is where we need your help, whilst we can hopefully paddle away for hours on end, we want to know that we are doing so for a good cause. So we have decided to race to raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières, an international humanitarian aid organisation that provides emergency medical assistance to populations in danger in more than 80 countries. Please check out the website at www.msf.org
Please sponsor us! Your support will make spending 4 days in a boat and 4 nights in a tent with Rachel a really enjoyable task (love ya Rach!!!)
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Médecins Sans Frontières UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
If you are uncertain about our chances of survival, then you can pledge a donation to be paid upon completion - just in case!!
We will try to update this info regularly to let you know how things are going so check it out from time to time!
Thank You soooooo much for all your help and support!
Lots of Love
Hans and Rach
