I am running my first ever charity run in support of cancer research and care charities
!
As some of you know, my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer in November last year and has been undergoing treatment. Not one for giving in, his positive attitude and determination to keep going and enjoy life despite the difficulties have inspired me so much. When he announced he was entering into Jane Tomlinson's Run for All 10k in Leeds (see link below) there was no doubt in my mind that I would run it too!
I am by no means a runner . In fact, I usually avoid it at all costs (including missing trains and buses). However, I am prepared to put on some running shoes and run for such a worthwhile cause.
Please help support us and the cause by sponsoring me. I will be running soon on 21st June (hmmm, perhaps I should start practicing this running malarky!). I still have a way to go to meet my fundraising target (thanks to so many of you who have donated already, I have raised the bar even further and have increased it to £1,500!). Whatever you can give would be great; as they say; every little helps.
Love,
Rachael xxx
Ps one thing I have learnt about cancer is early diagnosis significantly increases the chance of a cure. Unfortunately, most lung cancer patients are diagnosed too late because the symptoms can be put down to other (less scarey) things you would not bother a doctor with. It's worth being aware of the signs and prevention. See http://www.roycastle.org/content/LeftNavigation/AboutLungCancer/CommonSignsandSymptoms.aspx
