Between the 24th April and 4th May, I will be taking part on an 11 day trek along the Great Wall of China to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support .  You may think that striding out along the Great Wall and would be comparable to a walk in Battersea Park, however as you can see from the picture, large sections of the wall have not been renovated and require peak physical fitness (of which I am yet to achieve..)along with a hint of scrambling on all fours when it gets very steep.  Each day we aim to complete around 8 hours of walking. I have been told that it promises to be an extremely physically testing challenge, walking and camping in remote and dramatic conditions.  

Each and every day 739 people in the UK are told they have cancer.  More than one million  people in the UK today have a cancer diagnosis, and more than one in three will be diagnosed at some time in their life.  As well as taking action today to support people from the moment they suspect they have cancer, Macmillan are shaping the future of cancer care.  Ther increasing range of services include Macmillan nurses, doctors and other health and social care professionals, cancer care centers, a range of cancer information, practical help at home and help with money which is all funded entirely through the generosity of their supporters which makes a real difference to people living with cancer today and tomorrow. 

It would be very kind if you could donate, even if it is only a small amount, as with the credit crunch on our shoulders it will be charities such as Macmillian that may well loose large parts of their funding in the squeeze.  So please dig deep and help Macmillan to continue helping and improving the lives of those with cancer.
