Sahara Desert Trek · 14 November 2014
Update as of October 2014 - I broke my foot end of last month! Not going to stop me though! It's only three weeks away now and my foot is nearly completely healed. Although my training has taken a hit for it now it just means it's an even bigger challenge! It takes a lot more than a broken foot to get me out of the game!
What I Am Doing
Those of you who know me will know just how big a feat it is for me to take on something as ambitious as a 100km trek across the Sahara. And, although the daytime weather is exactly what I need, the night will no doubt be a huge challenge for me.
Why I Am Doing It
I have been volunteering and fundraising for Help for Heroes for some time now, as I feel that the charity is one that offers outstanding support to those injured on the front line, and their families and support network. To any of you who have family in the forces, you will understand the effect even a healthy return can have.
About The Trek
This ten day trip takes place on 14-23 November 2014, giving me lots of time to prepare, and I will be working hard to make sure that I am the fittest I can be for this unbelievable experience. I will be trekking long hours for seven days and camping in the Sahara with a group of people who I am sure I'll have a lot of fun with (even though I don't know any of them!).
On Another Note...
And before any more of you ask...it is unlikely that I'll be doing this in high heels :-)
My personal Help for Heroes reference number is 50495SD14.
