Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

Better bone health for everybody. We’re proud to be the only UK-wide charity dedicated to improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. With 40 years of expertise and experience behind us, we are committed to helping keep the nation’s bones stronger for longer.

Story

I blame it all on my husband.  He entered me into the New York Marathon and  by the time I heard I hadn't got a place, I was hooked on the idea.

I've walked a marathon.
I've rowed a marathon.
But, by heck, I've never run one.

Why would you?
It's a chuffing long way. 26.2 miles actually (blame the royal family for the odd distance).  But I'm doing it for charity - the National Osteoporosis Society.

Because 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men over the age of 50 will break a bone mainly because of osteoporosis.

1,150 people are dying every month in the UK as a result of hip fractures.

Osteoporosis costs the NHS and government £5 million a day.

The National Osteoporosis Society is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.

.. and they're a great bunch of people.

So please sponsor me. Many many  thanks.
.......now where  did the dog go with my trainers.....?
