Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I ran the London Marathon this year for the first time at the age of 41, completing the course in 5hrs and 28 mins. I also raised £4,336 for The British Heart Foundation. Running the marathon was the hardest yet most amazing thing I have ever achieved, particularly as I have only been running for the last couple of years and I did say I would never ever do it again.. HOWEVER, I have recently discovered something that has made me change my mind......My birthday is on 25th April, and this year, the Marathon took place on 26th April, the day after my 41st birthday. Because next year is a leap year, the Marathon is being held on 24th April, the day BEFORE my 42nd birthday. This would mean that I would have ran TWO London Marathons not only in the same calendar year, but also being the same age!! I am sure this must be very unusual and I would also use this as a positive publicity tool which hopefully will raise funds and also awareness when the media ask which charity I am supporting. This time I have decided to support "Get Kids Going!" because of the work they do in enabling disabled children who have a particular sporting talent to be given the same opportunities as able bodied children, thus supporting and nurturing our future Commonwealth and Paralympic Champions.
