We did it!  Both of us finished the marathon in great times.  Rachel and Paul ran the Berlin Marathon on the 28th September 2008 in aid of Jacob Marsland, who is the very brave nephew of our colleague Wanda. You can still sponsor us!

We started training for the marathon back in January.  Over the last 9 months the weather has not been kind to us. The Lostock 6 in February should have been a winter Olympics event, at the Humber half marathon we got sunburnt on the only sunny day in June and at the Gravy 6 the drink stage had hot chocolate (and chips)!

Jacob has a rare form of cancer called neuroblastoma, which needs specialist treatment. Despite undergoing intensive chemotherapy Jacob has not responded to his treatment in the UK, and may soon need to receive pioneering treatment in the USA. Jacob’s family are trying desperately to raise funds for his future treatment as this will cost a minimum of £250,000 and may now be his only chance of survival.
