My friend Francesca (aged 19) was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in May 2015. She then underwent 4 rounds (14 weeks) of intensive chemotherapy in the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. In October 2015 she was told that she was in remission but sadly relapsed in December 2015. She received 2 more rounds of chemo then received a stem cell transplant in March 2016.

On the 27th of May 2016, Francesca was officially told that she was now in COMPLETE REMISSION!!

This amazing girl has kicked cancer's ass twice, went on to become an Ambassador for the Beatson and has set a target of raising £10,000 for the charity!!

The Beatson provides a safe place away from clinical hospital surroundings where patients and their families can go to relax, get a coffee, and take a bit of time away from the ward. They also provide a variety of massage therapies, which the patients can choose to have in their rooms or in one of the charity's very own spa rooms, which are also fully fitted out beauty therapy rooms. A far cry away from what you would expect to find in a hospital.

This year the Beatson Cancer Charity will be starting to provide a wig fitting service for patients. Choosing a wig for the first time is an extremely difficult and emotional process, which often leads to patients making wrong decisions. By providing this service, patients will be able to choose their wig in a calm environment with specialist staff to help them overcome this hurdle.

Running the Scottish Half for the Beatson is a no-brainer for me, I couldn't pass up the chance to be part of Francesca's awesome fundraising team.
