Three Peaks Challenge 2007 · 4 June 2007

The Global Angels Foundation is an international charity, inspiring disadvantaged communities to grow sustainably. Global Angels 100% Promise: every penny we receive from public donations goes directly to provide on-the-ground resources such as safe drinking water, education and healthcare.

Story

Welcome to the Rackspace and Big Button Media Three Peaks Challenge 2007 fundraising page!  A number of Rackers from the UK office have set ourselves a target of climbing the three highest mountains in England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis) and Wales (Snowdon) in under 24 hours starting on the 6th of July.  While many of us would probably be happy to do it just for fun, we're actually doing it to raise funds for our charity of the year - Global Angels.

Global Angels were chosen by a vote from all UK Rackers as our charity of the year for 2006-2007; their mission statement is "To make the world a safer and kinder place for all children".  Amongst other projects, they are working to feed and educate one million children a year in Africa, Asia and Latin America, sponsoring food for 300 children every day of the year in a Mozambique primary school, rescuing abandoned babies in South Africa, assisting in social welfare programmes for babies, orphans and vulnerable children and working alongside the WFP and UN in emergency nutritional programmes for children with serious malnutrition and in school feeding programmes in the Darfur region of Sudan.

I'm sure many of you reading this will have seen the shocking and disturbing footage on television of the Darfur region of Sudan.  The conflict in Darfur is described by the UN as one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises with 1.9 million people internally displaced, with further displacement of people caused by the lack of food and water.  With your help, we can make a real difference to the lives of these children!

Please help us to help these disadvantaged children by digging deep and sponsoring us online through JustGiving.  Remember that donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Global Angels will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support,

The UK Rackspace Mountain Display Team.  AKA:

Special thanks to those generous, Fanatical Rackers who have volunteered to drive us through the night between mountains - George Bray, Peter Goodsir, Wayne Jacobs and Brian Garvey.  Without you guys, we wouldn't be able to do this!

An extra special thanks go to our partner Big Button Media, who will be taking part in the event with us and capturing the highlight and lowlights of the event for posterity.
