We clear landmines and destroy weapons to save and improve lives worldwide.

Story

Hi
After the successful completion of the Paris Nightrider challenge earlier this year, myself and Neil Turton will be once again donning the lycra to raise further much needed funds for MAG International, the humanitarian organisation clearing the remnants of conflict, enabling recovery and assisting the development of affected people.
In this installment, we are joined by Tom Fender and will travel to Laos in South East Asia to take part in a cycling challenge which will see us bike more than 400km in five days. Bordering China, Thailand and Vietnam the challenge takes riders to the historic royal city of Luang Prabang via the rural Hmong and Khmu communities, the scenic Mekong River and the pristine forests of Kamu.
Laos is the most bombed country in the world per capita and its government has shown that unexploded ordnance (UXO) contamination still affects more than 25% of its villages. Between 1999 and 2008 there have been 2,184 casualties and 834 deaths as a result of UXOs.

About the charity

Every single day, 15 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.
