The Citizens Foundation (UK) raises funds for The Citizens Foundation (TCF), Pakistan's leading education charity. TCF currently runs 20,33 school units nationwide and provides high-quality education to 301,000 children (48% of which are girls) from the most deprived areas in Pakistan.

Story

Hello

Over the next few weeks, I will be taking part in a couple of challenges in order to raise funds for Friends of the Citizens' Foundation.

First, I will cycle from London to Paris and three weeks later, climb Mount Kilimanjaro

The first challenge is a 385km cycle ride over three days. I leave London on the 24th of September and after three days of cycling, arrive in Paris on the evening of the 26th of September.

This will give me approximately three weeks to recover as I fly to Tanzania on the 16th of October to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Mount Kilimanjaro's snow capped summit reaches 19,340 ft (5895m); It is the tallest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. Some of you might be aware that I suffer from vertigo so the real challenge here will be to keep my balance at the top!

All this is in aid of Friends of the Citizens' Foundation, a UK Registered charity raising funds to educate the underprivaleged children of Pakistan. As I am sure you're aware, the country is ensnared in a political and economic crisis. The government spends just over 2% of its GDP on education and it is up to us to ensure that the children of Pakistan are not neglected, particularly in these times.

I was lucky enough to visit one of the TCF schools in Pakistan earlier this year. I met with primary and secondary students as well as several of the teachers. TCF schools ensure Pakistan’s poorest children are given the opportunity to realise their true potential. 84% of pupils sitting their finals at TCF schools achieve A to C grades (well above the national average).

The target is to raise £10,000 which will cover the running cost of a primary school for a year. If you would like more information on the charity, please visit www.ftcf.org.uk or get in touch with me.

Many thanks for your support.
