Wokingham Bikeathon
My name is Barry Perrin; I am an amputee of right below knee. My amputation was due to a football injury over 40 years ago, I broke my ankle and arthritis set in, I went through numerous amounts of surgery to try to alleviate the pain but it was always very painful and the arthritis was so bad, but I carried on playing until I was 46 years old.
I met Ray Edwards (CEO of Limbless Association) in May 2008, when I was in Roehampton after my amputation. Ray introduced himself and explained that he was a Quad amputee (all 4 limbs) from the moment that I met Ray, I knew that I would be walking again, he is such an inspiring person, and he gave me so much confidence. After hearing Ray tell me his reason for the loss of his limbs, my thoughts were “if Ray can do it with all 4 limbs, then I know that I can do it with my one limb” It was a struggle and I just cannot imagine what Ray and his family went through “The man is incredible”
I am fortunate to have Ray as a good friend now and plan on helping raise money for the Limbless Association. What an ambassador he is for the charity, a true admiral and I most certainly am one of his pirates. For many people look up at Ray as “The Limbless Association”
Barry and Raymondo would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far - - £4,870 as of 28/05/09!!!
