I am joining 19 other members of the Riders branch of the Royal British Legion on their Annual Sponsored Poppy run  which this year is visiting France and Belgium covering approximately 1200 miles each, visiting WW1 and WW2 battlefield sites in both Countries.

We will also be following a WW1 dispatch riders route, which is unique to the branch and follows roads, villages and small towns mentioned in a Dispatch Riders diary of 1915.

The highlight of the trip will be the formal wreath laying at the Menin Gate during the Last Post Ceremony.

With over 500,000 helped on an annual basis, the Poppy Appeal needs funds at all times of the year, not just in November, when we, as a Nation, pause to reflect the sacrifice of others who have gone before and those who sacrifice themselves for our peaceful existence today.
