The London Duathalon - Run Bike Run · 12 September 2010

We are PCD Support UK. We’re here for those affected by PCD, we talk about PCD as widely as possible and we champion research to improve its diagnosis, management and treatment. Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia is a rare, genetic disease (1 in 15,000 people), causing recurrent respiratory infections.

Story

We completed the Richmond Duathalon today on Sunday, 12th September. The whole event was very competitive but fun was had by all!  Thanks to everyone who took part and came along ot support us.

We are raising money for the PCD Family Support Group who help support families like us who are affected by Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) a rare chronic lung condition.   The group also raises awareness within the medical profession of the condition so that patients can be diagnosed and give the correct treatment as soon as possible.

Any money we raise through this event will be put to good use.  For example, just £10 will pay for an information pack including a DVD to be sent to patients who have just been diagnosed, £30 will pay for an acapella (a plastic device which helps physiotherapy), £100 will buy a trampoline which encourages children to be more active and also helps with physiotherapy, £250 will sponsor a medic to attend a conference and write a paper on it for the group.  The groups'  shopping list is very long and we rely solely on the generosity of our supporters.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you.
