2,000 Miles in 48 Hours Driving a 37 Year Old Classic Sports Car!

This may sound like a crazy idea but it is for Charity.  Andy Cook and Co Driver Paul Bodiam will be taking part in the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability run this October using Andy's 1971 Triumph GT6. This charity fund raising event which has been held bi-annually since 1966 starts and ends in London on a trip around the British mainland on a route via John O'Groats and Lands End. In order to qualify for a successful completion the entrants need to visit 15 pre arranged check points within 48 hours, a distance of around 2,000 miles. Sponsorship for this event is donated to a different chosen charity each year All entrants fund the expenses for the journey and entry fee out of their own pockets ensuring that all sponsorship funds are donated to the charity. This year 120 Classic Triumph cars will attempt the journey and will be raising money for the RNLI, the combined sponsorship target is to raise at least £50,000 so if you are willing to sponsor Andy it would be really appreciated.  Also if you do sponsor me my company, Nortel have agreed to match £ for £ any sponsorship raised (up to a limit) so your sponsorship money will be doubled.

This is the second time Andy will have attempted this having sucessfully completed the run in 2006. This years run takes palce between Friday 3rd October and Sunday 5th October 2008.

For more details please visit my website www.rbrr.cookiehome.co.uk

If any of you want to keep tabs on our journey over the weekend, there will be a website where the teams can upload SMS messages (or if they have the technology emails and pictures) during the run. The web address is:- http://club.triumph.org.uk/rbrnews You can either look at messages from all the teams or filter down to just our messages by picking "55 Andy Cook/Paul Bodiam GT6 Mk3" from the list of teams.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Please sponsor me now any donation however small will be most appreciated.
