READ Book Project Nottingham - Realising Education Allowing Development...

About READ Book Project Nottingham:
Throughout the year volunteers contact local schools in Nottinghamshire and surounding counties asking for their their old (but good quality) GCSE text books for Maths, English, General Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Biology (as well as some stationery and lab equipment). The books are then sent to Tanzania where the volunteers then work with the ministry of education and the district council to distribute the books to 20 schools in the Mara region.Throughout the year we organise lots of fundraising event to raise at least £8,000 to ship the container of boxes to Tanzania. We also give school assemby presentations to promote awareness of the difficulties faced by pupils of the same age in Tanzania and encourage global citizenship.
