Real Barrow Race · 22 May 2006

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Thank you for visiting The Real Barrow Race fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor the event online, or use this method to donate your entry fee.

3 years ago Ricky Barrow an employee at Cashcade was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. The disease is particularly nasty and attacks the upper and lower motor neurons which leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.

Being an innovative company we put our heads together about what we could do to raise some money for MND charity and thought what better way than by organizing a race…

Well here it is the inaugural ‘realbarrowrace’ a 500 m or 200M swim in an indoor pool at St Dunstans College in South London followed by a 2 or for 5k run. Or if you are under 16 a 33M swim and a 1 k run.

Whilst we are at we thought we would throw in a barbecue and have bit of fun…no super athletes here!

Donating or paying your entry fee through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is the most efficient way for us to raise money from organising this event.

Motor Neurone Disease Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Please enter the race - but failing this please gift money to this fantastic charity.

Many thanks for your support.
