We did it!!!! The hardest thing I've ever done, and a real test of endurance and character, but an enjoyable and fantastic day. The first half was great, walking through woods, along country lanes, through fields etc... all ready and raring to go, everybody chatting as we walked, but the second half was very tough, with all the hills and the never-ending trail over the downs (wide hills on the island). There was a lot less chatting as all you could see in the distance was little dots of people on the horizon and all you could think about was, 'OH, how am I going to get that far, because my legs are killing me, they seize up every time I stop, and my feet are covered in blisters....' However, it was all worth it as we hobbled and limped our way towards the finish line. It took about 2 days to fully recover the use of my legs and to be able to walk up and down the stairs without taking it one step at a time and hanging on to the bannister. Going in to work the next day was a challenge in itself (plus doing the play at the theatre for the 2 weeks). At the time I said never again will I do the full walk - possibly half of it, like alot of people do, but the pain is now forgotten and I'm eager to do the next one!! Over 10,000 people took part on either the full 26.5 miles, half of it, the 8 mile flat walk or the school's walk. Not sure yet what the total amount raised is, but I'll post it on here when it is released. Once again, thank you to all who sponsored us. It's really appreciated. Love Rebecca xxx
